Cheyenne River Youth Project RedCan Graffiti Jam

Project Overview

The Cheyenne River Youth Project is a small, grassroots non-profit located on the Cheyenne River Indian reservation in South Dakota. They provide services to the reservation residents as well as programs for the youth to create more vibrant lives and communities.

Since 2015, they have held the annual RedCan graffiti jam to bring awareness to the power of art to heal and bind communities.

This annual project includes using art created by a graffiti artist to brand the year’s event with social media and email graphics, posters and save the dates. In 2021 a new website landing page was created that better represented the vibrant nature of RedCan.

Logo & Art

The 2021 logo and general art were extracted from a Photoshop PSD file created by a graffiti artist and then applied to mugs, banners, social media and more.

The extracted art was used along with fonts that fit the graffiti style to create posters and other collateral.

In 2021, the youth group wanted to create banners to hang in the surrounding area using the 2021 art as well as previous years’ art. Once again, the art was extracted from original Photoshop files to create the banners.

Landing Page

The Cheyenne River Youth Project has a WordPress website built with Divi. In 2021, they wanted a more dynamic landing page that better respresented the vibrant energy of the graffiti event and the community’s youth.

Using the existing site platform, I created a custom built page using photos, colors and art that aligned with event.
