This past Spring I had the opportunity to photograph a barefoot dancing rocket scientist! That’s right! Melissa found me through Google (it’s so nice to know Google works!!!) when searching for personal branding photographers in Virginia. She is a life design, leadership and teambuilding coach. She is also an avid barefoot runner, yogini, mindfulness practitioner and all around amazing woman.
There’s a little backstory that I didn’t know about until I met Melissa and her coach, Cindia Carrere, before the shoot to go over the styling, outfits and general itinerary of Melissa’s shoot. When Melissa started looking for a photographer she did some googling and found me and several others. Just prior to that, Cindia, who is an energy stylist, woke up one morning with the word Habibi in her mind. My last name. So for a day or two she and her husband were having fun saying Habibi because it sounds cool, right?! Then Melissa presents her with the photographers she found through google and there’s Mina HABIBI!! Cue woo-woo music. Talk about synchronicity and synchrodestiny. Clearly, the universe guided this decision!
Meeting with Melissa and Cindia that day was amazing. They had spent the day before shopping and finding outfits and accessories that would sync up with Melissa’s new brand colors, style, her energy, everything. And they had them all combined and laid out for me to look at! AND they had some ideas of what kind of photos and visuals for the different outfits! I was like WOW!!! They seriously did part of my job. This kind of upfront strategic planning makes everything flow so well. And usually I am the one doing it! And I love doing it but to have it done ahead of time? That was a bonus.
Melissa wanted a mix of backdrop images with lifestyle outdoor, cafe, nature, water, yoga images. Right up my alley. So after rescheduling the shoot twice once for wind — yes, I said wind (you’re not gonna get good photos with 60+ mile per hour wind gusts) — and then because of snow right after the Spring equinox (it was a rough last month of Winter here!) we were able to get together on a gorgeous Spring day.
And now meet the barefoot dancing rocket scientist!
Thank you Melissa! And thanks to your hubby for lugging all the stuff for us!!
